Electrolysis: Permanent Hair Removal Solution

Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved method for permanent hair removal, and it’s safe and effective for all skin tones and hair colors—including white, gray, and light blonde hairs that laser can’t treat.

WHAT IS ELECTROLYSIS?

Electrolysis is a highly precise hair removal treatment that eliminates hair at the root. It uses a tiny, sterile probe inserted into each hair follicle to apply a shortwave radio frequency or electrical current. This energy destroys the follicle, preventing future growth.

Unlike laser hair removal, electrolysis is suitable for every skin tone and hair color, making it a versatile and inclusive option for facial hair removal.

How Electrolysis Works

• A fine probe is gently inserted into the natural opening of the hair follicle.
• A quick electrical current is delivered to destroy the follicle and hair root.
• The treated hair is removed with tweezers.
• The result: That hair will never grow back.

Hair grows in cycles, so multiple sessions are needed to target each hair during its active growth phase.

    WHAT TO EXPECT

    Before Your Appointment:
Make sure the hair is 1/8 to 1/4 inch long (about a grain of rice) so it’s visible for treatment. Gently exfoliate the day before to clear away dead skin—avoid scrubbing or using harsh exfoliants. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water the day before and the day of your session for best results.

    During the Session:
You might feel a sharp sting or temporary warmth as each hair follicle is treated. Pain tolerance varies by individual and the area being treated.

    After the Treatment:
Post-treatment care is crucial. Avoid activities that can irritate the treated area, such as sweating, sun exposure, tanning, or applying makeup.
    Side Effects:
Common side effects include temporary redness in the treated area, which typically lasts one to two days. Rare side effects may include infection, scarring, or dark spots on darker skin tones, which usually resolve without intervention.

    Additional Notes:

    • The “Cleaning” period is when all hairs are treated for the first time.
    • The “Control” phase addresses regrowth as density decreases.
    • The “Maintenance” phase lasts 4-6 months and is considered a low pilosity period.

    • It is possible that, during control, an increase in pilosity occurs. If that happens, return to cleaning (weekly).
    • Maintenance phase lasts 4-6 months until you see little to no regrowth.
    • Duration varies based on client availability, budget, and tolerance.

    How Many Treatments Are Needed?

For Optimal Results - Multiple Sessions Are Required
The number of sessions required varies based on factors like hair growth cycles and treatment area. Clients need multiple sessions, often scheduled weekly or biweekly, lasting between 15 minutes to one hour per visit. It may take up to a year and a half to complete all necessary treatments. However, once the series of treatments is complete, you can expect permanent hair removal.
