Laser Tattoo Removal
How Does Laser Tattoo Removal Work?
Every color of ink requires a different wavelength of light and amount of energy to be efficiently removed.
The high power pico laser Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser is ideal for treating darker ink colors (black, blue and green), while the 532 nm wavelength is effective for brighter ink colors (red, orange and yellow). The mechanical pico laser effect works by vibrating and breaking down the ink particles in the tattoo. As the area heals, the bodyās immune system flushes away the shattered ink particles, causing the tattoo to fade with minimal risk of scarring or hypopigmentation.
The treatment breaks down the ink particles without causing damage to the skin. This is achieved by a Photo-Acoustic effect created by the impact of the laser energy delivered with very short pulses to the targeted ink. Over time, your bodyās natural healing processes (the lymphatic system) removes the ink fragments from your body. This allows your tattoo to fade with only minimal risks of scarring or skin discoloration. May require 1-10 sessions based on desired fading results.
More about Laser Tattoo Removal
There are many factors that impact tattoo removal. A personās skin type, their general health and immune health, age, location of the tattoo, color of tattoo, density of the ink, post treatment care, and time between sessions are all factors that impact removal.
Newer tattoos are less responsive to laser treatment than older ones, and while the laser will work, it may require more sessions to effectively reduce the tattoo to a desirable level.
Treatments are spaced 8 weeks apart.
Please note, tattoos need to be healed at least 3 months before treatment.
